FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Fun House version 2.10 Updated January
8, 2003
What is Fun House, anyway? Fun House was a game show that aired in Syndication
from September 1988-September 1990, and then moved onto the FOX network
for the following seven months. It was cancelled in April 1991. It starred
teen idol JD Roth as the host, John "Tiny" Hurley as the announcer, and
Jackie and Sammie Forrest as the cheerleaders.
What happened in the show? Two teams of 8-15 year olds competed in messy
stunts and brain busting questions followed by a grand prix race "all around
the studio track". The winning team would then proceed to the "Fun House"
where they got to win cash and prizes.
Wait a minute.... wasn't that the show with those physical challenges?
And the Obstacle Course? Ah, no. That would be Double Dare, which aired
on the Nickelodeon network. Visit the links page which will take you to
info on that show.
Wait a minute... I thought the kids were older than 15...weren't they
college age?? Then you would be thinking about College Mad House, the spin
off hosted by actor Greg Kinnear, in the 1989-90 season.
Why was the show cancelled? That's a good question! I don't have an
answer for that.
Are there any Fun House products you can still buy? Yes and no. There
are no new products, but searching for "Fun House" on ebay will net you
results. The exercise videos pop up quite often, the NES game comes up
a little less sporadically, while it's really hard to find box versions
of the board game or the computer game. Try going to the links page to
find out about where you can find the computer game.
What do the letters JD stand for? According to the sexwars.com site,
the letters JD don't stand for anything!
Have you heard from anyone associated with the show? Yes, infact. My
first contact was from a former contestant, and I've also heard from John
"Tiny" Hurley (announcer), Chad (a stunt tester), Pat (the British host),
and Ron (a co-creator). I want to take this opportunity to thank them all
for answering my e-mail!
How do I get in touch with (insert name here)? Sorry, your guess is
as good as mine.
Why don't you respond to my e-mail very quickly? I would love to change
this, but the fact of the matter is that I'm in my last semester of university,
and that takes priority. I try to get back to you as soon as I can, but
remember that can be a while!
Where do I get tapes from the show? Of a specific episode? This is the
most frequent request I get. Yes, I do have shows on tape, but I only have
access to them for about 4 months in the summer time. I am open to trading
at that time. Due to the number of requests I get, I can't fill everyone,
but do e-mail me if you're interested and we'll try to work something out.
If I can't, surf around to other trade pages, and I'm sure someone will
trade with you! Please note: I DO NOT TRADE FOR MONEY. Please don't ask.
It's illegal. 'nuff said. IF you are a former contestant on either FH or
CMH, please let me know and I will do my best to get a hold of your episode.
So can you supply me with a tape? Umm... see above... just because you
email several times does not mean that I can get at my tapes! When will
(insert network here) rerun Fun House? Well, as far as I know the episodes
still exist, but I don't anticipate reruns anytime soon, although who knows,
maybe they will pop up on GSN or the Family channel at some point. Don't
expect to see them on Nickelodeon Games and Sports, though, as Fun House
was not a Nickelodeon product.
Can you tell me what the cheerleading twins (the Forrest girls) are
doing now? I have no clue! But this seems to be a popular question nevertheless!
Is there anything I can do to help? If you are looking to help out,
you can send me any knowledge you might now. I am especially looking for
the following things:
-
The July 4, 1989 episode of FH (fourth of july episode)
Pictures of the bonus round with the vine room and the fun bank room
in it
-
If you have the exercise videos, I would like to get pictures (images)
of the collage of stunts.
-
I am also looking for any FH and CMH episodes that are not currently being
traded on the internet, although there are a few that I don't have. I am
always looking to add to my collection. As well, if you know anything about
the show that isn't listed here, PLEASE contact me!
-
UK BIG BREAKFAST VIEWERS: This is my personal appeal to you. I sent a picture
and a letter to Johnny and Lisa in May of 2000 and to my surprise it was
aired on JUNE 13, 2000, according to friends in Britain who saw it. If
you do tape the show regularly, and you might have this episode on tape,
I can be reached at fhfactory (at) lycos (dot)com. PLEASE e-mail me if
you have this on tape!! Thanks very much!
Have any questions? Send them to fhfactory (at) lycos (dot) com, and
I'll try to get back to you eventually! I say that because I'm currently
in my last semester at university and I'm very busy, so I usually don't
have that much time to update the page. |
